Pomacanthus paru - The French Angelfish

Pomacanthus paru commonly known as the French angelfish is beautiful fish found in in the western Atlantic Ocean from Florida to Brazil. The French angelfish lives in coral reef areas and is considered a curious fish often swimming close to divers. Adult angelfish have black bodies with their scales lined bright yellow, a white chin, and eyes are outlined with yellow. As juveniles, the French angelfish looks very different than the adult with a black body and yellow vertical stripes, closely resembling the Grey angelfish juvenile. In both life stages, the French angelfish is omnivorous feeding on a variety of algae and invertebrates, and as a juvenile they tend cleaning stations for a variety of species. The French angelfish can grow to 2 feet in length and live up to 10 years.
